Overview

Jeongbalsan Parish is a parish of the Catholic Diocese of Uijeongbu in Ilsandong-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do. It was established on September 7, 2000 by separating from Juyeop-dong Parish, and its patron saint is the Nativity of Mary. It belongs to the 6 district within the diocese.

History

According to the brief history on the parish website, Jeongbalsan Parish was established and moved into its church building on September 7, 2000 with the appointment of its first pastor, separating from Juyeop-dong Parish with 4,669 faithful. About 10 months after moving in, in July 2001, Hugok Parish was established, and Hugok Region 2's 3 zones and 965 faithful, which had been under this parish's jurisdiction, separated again to Hugok Parish.

The first assistant priest took office on December 1, 2002, and on June 24, 2004 the diocese to which the parish belonged was separated from the Archdiocese of Seoul to the Diocese of Uijeongbu. It is recorded that thereafter the 2 pastor took office on June 7, 2005, the 3 pastor on September 9, 2008, the 4 pastor on September 28, 2010, the 5 pastor on February 10, 2012, and the 6 pastor on September 6, 2016 in succession.
