About this place
Our Lady of Good Counsel Church is the monastery church of the Order of St. Augustine at 722 Wangsan-ro in Wangjing-myeon, Yeoncheon. The same site houses the Our Lady of Good Counsel Monastery, novitiate, Uijeongbu branch, and retreat house, while the church serves as the central liturgical and prayer space of the religious community.
It is therefore a monastery church rather than an independent territorial parish. The liturgy of the friars, personal prayer, and the spiritual experience of retreatants meet here, expressing the Augustinian emphasis on community and prayer.
History & origins
After entering Korea, the Order of St. Augustine developed a monastic community in Yeoncheon under the name Our Lady of Good Counsel Monastery. A retreat ministry at the community is documented by 2009, and a dedicated church for the friars' common liturgy and prayer was later established.
A 2016 Catholic feature described the building as a major monastery church constructed after many years of Augustinian presence in Korea, and 2025–2026 sources continue to identify it as the Our Lady of Good Counsel Monastery Church. The exact dedication date of the church could not be established from the public sources reviewed and is therefore not asserted.
