About this place
The Wonju Community of the Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help is listed in the Catholic Church in Korea directory as a women’s institute of consecrated life affiliated with the Diocese of Wonju. Its official English name is Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, and the directory confirms the branch address on Songgye 1-gil in Hakseong-dong, Wonju. This is not a territorial parish serving all Catholics in a defined area, but a branch community where religious sisters live their common and consecrated life.
According to the institute’s official materials, its charism is “the proclamation of the Gospel through participation in the mystery of the Incarnation of the Word,” lived through Marian spirituality, and its members seek to serve as ministers of the Word. The Wonju branch is a local community that lives this charism and consecrated life within the Diocese of Wonju. Rather than exercising territorial parish jurisdiction, it functions as a branch for the common life of the religious institute, and its character is therefore distinct from that of an ordinary parish church.
