About this place
태장동 성당 is a parish in the Bukwonju district of the Diocese of Wonju. Its pastoral territory is centered on Taejang 2-dong and Gahyeon-dong in Wonju and also includes parts of Socho-myeon and Hojeo-myeon. Its patrons are the 103 Korean Martyr Saints, and the current Catholic Directory of Korea records it as a parish without dependent mission stations.
Although its name resembles 태장1동 성당, the two are separate parishes. 태장동 성당 serves the residential area around Taejang 2-dong and Gahyeon-dong, enabling Catholics in northern Wonju to participate in Mass, the sacraments, catechesis, and parish community life. Because its territory also reaches into parts of neighboring townships, it has a mixed urban and semi-rural pastoral character within northern Wonju.
