About this place
The Salesian Sisters community in Hoengseong is registered in the Guide to the Catholic Church in Korea as the “Hoengseong Convent,” a women's religious community belonging to the Diocese of Wonju. The congregation's formal name is the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, also known internationally as the Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco (F.M.A.). This entry therefore refers not to an ordinary parish or mission station but to a local convent in which religious sisters live in community, pray, and continue the mission of their institute.
The Salesian Sisters were founded in the spirituality of Saint John Bosco and Saint Maria Domenica Mazzarello and have long emphasized the education and care of children and young people. They came to Korea in 1957 and developed various apostolates in youth education, welfare, and faith formation. The public directory does not provide enough detail to define the precise present apostolate of the Hoengseong convent, so no specific institutional function is added without evidence. What can be verified is that this is a living Salesian women's religious community within the Diocese of Wonju.
