History & origins
The early Catholic community in Yangju Baekseok prepared a church even before the formal parish was established. A secondary chronology records the blessing of the church site in December 2000, the start of construction on a mission chapel in October 2001, and the completion of that chapel with a thanksgiving Mass in February 2002.
The Catholic Church Directory records September 19, 2002, as the formal parish establishment date. Thus a mission community that had already prepared its worship space became an independent parish later that year. The building of the mission church and subsequent elevation to parish status are the key transitions in its early history.
