The Uijeongbu branch of the Sisters of Our Lady of Consolation is a women's religious community in a residential area of Jingeon-eup, Namyangju. Following the spirit of St. Maria Rosa Molas, the congregation seeks to make God's consolation present especially among people who are poor, marginalized, or in need of care.
In the Jingeon area, the sisters began working with Jingeon Parish in 2015 to care for children from multicultural, single-parent, and other vulnerable families; this ministry developed into the Maria Rosa Community Child Center. The house is a religious-community residence and apostolic base, not an ordinary territorial parish.
History & origins
The Sisters of Our Lady of Consolation were founded in Spain by St. Maria Rosa Molas on March 14, 1857. The congregation developed a mission of bringing God's consolation and mercy to people in poverty and suffering, and entered Korea on May 14, 1986.
An Uijeongbu branch is now registered in Jingeon-eup, Namyangju, and the sisters are documented as participating in local child-care ministry from 2015. Public sources do not establish the opening date of this particular branch, so 1857 and 1986 should not be treated as its local foundation date.
