About this place
Siksa-dong Catholic Church is a parish of District 6 of the Diocese of Uijeongbu at 153 Wi City-ro in Goyang. It was established on September 14, 2010, after separating from Pung-dong Parish, and has St. Francis as patron.
The parish developed with the growth of the Wi City residential district and now supports local Catholics through Mass, the sacraments, catechesis, and youth and young-adult community life.
History & origins
Siksa-dong Parish was established on September 14, 2010, after separating from Pung-dong Parish. At the time it was a small community of 71 Catholics in 25 households, and on October 3 it celebrated its first tent Mass marking the new parish and its first pastor.
The parish initially maintained a temporary office at Pung-dong Parish and from November 7, 2010, celebrated Mass in the Gippeumteo hall in Siksa-dong. It later established the present church at 153 Wi City-ro.
