Religious house
About this place
The Uijeongbu branch of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul is a women's religious community at 224 Eunhyeon-ro 55beon-gil in Yangju. Following St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac, the congregation centers its apostolate on serving Christ in people who are poor, sick, or marginalized.
This is not an ordinary parish but a religious house for community life and charitable service, currently registered as the congregation's Uijeongbu branch.
History & origins
The Daughters of Charity were founded in France on November 29, 1633, and entered Korea on April 10, 1978. According to the congregation's official Korean history, their ministry in Korea began by caring for people with Hansen's disease at Lazarus Village in Anyang.
The congregation later expanded its communities and ministries, and an Uijeongbu branch is now present in Yangju. The opening date of this particular branch is not publicly documented.
