About this place
The Uijeongbu branch of the Order of St. Augustine is a men's religious community at 722 Wangsan-ro in Yeoncheon. The Catholic Church Directory in Korea lists the site as the Our Lady of Good Counsel Monastery, novitiate, and Uijeongbu branch.
A retreat house for individuals and small groups is also registered at the same address. The site is therefore not an ordinary parish but an Augustinian community combining monastic life, religious formation, and retreat ministry.
History & origins
The Order of St. Augustine took shape in the thirteenth century, with the Catholic Church Directory in Korea giving 1244 as its foundation year. The Order entered Korea on September 4, 1985.
Today the Our Lady of Good Counsel Monastery, novitiate, and Uijeongbu branch operate in Wangjing-myeon, Yeoncheon. Public official sources do not state the opening date of this local community, so neither 1244 nor 1985 should be treated as its branch foundation date.
