About this place
Pungdong Catholic Church is a parish of District 6 of the Diocese of Uijeongbu at 49-69 Supsongmaeul-ro in Ilsandong-gu, Goyang. It was established on August 31, 2006, and the parish's current official patron page identifies St. Teresa of Calcutta (Mother Teresa) as its patron.
The parish serves Catholics in Pungdong and the Supsongmaeul area through Mass, the sacraments, catechesis, and community activities. The witness of Mother Teresa in serving Christ among the poor and marginalized is an important part of the parish's spiritual identity.
History & origins
Pungdong Parish was established on August 31, 2006, amid the residential growth of the Ilsandong-gu area. It subsequently developed into a stable local parish centered at its present site on Supsongmaeul-ro, with regular liturgy, catechesis, youth ministry, and parish organizations.
The publicly available official parish material does not provide enough detail to state an exact mother parish, construction chronology, or dedication date with confidence, so those details are not invented. Today it functions as a District 6 parish under the patronage of St. Teresa of Calcutta.
