About this place
Munsan Jesus Heart Retreat House is a retreat and prayer house under the Diocese of Uijeongbu, located at 260-129 Barigol-gil in Paju-eup, Paju. The Catholic Church Directory in Korea classifies it as a retreat facility rather than a parish or mission station, and the national directory of retreat houses connects it with the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Its primary role is not territorial parish ministry but the spiritual renewal of retreatants through prayer and retreat programs. It is particularly associated with Jesus Heart prayer and spiritual exercises, serving as a religious-apostolate setting for people seeking time in silence, prayer, and reflection.
History & origins
Munsan Jesus Heart Retreat House is currently listed in the Catholic Church Directory in Korea as a retreat and prayer house of the Diocese of Uijeongbu and is connected with the retreat apostolate of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Its present address and its function as a retreat facility are confirmed by official Church directories.
Public Church sources consulted here, however, do not provide a verifiable opening date, building completion date, or date when the retreat apostolate began at the current site. Rather than inventing a chronology, the historical account therefore distinguishes the confirmed continuity of the present retreat ministry from details of its opening history that remain undocumented in the available sources.
