About this place
The Uijeongbu branch of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Mary of Mirinae is a women's religious community registered at 1457-17 Hwahap-ro in Yangju. The Catholic Church Directory in Korea identifies this location specifically as the congregation's Uijeongbu branch, while recording February 2, 1984, as the formal establishment date of the congregation itself.
The congregation expresses its spirituality in the motto, “Glory to the Holy Trinity through the Immaculate Heart of Mary,” seeking a consecrated life modeled on the heart of Mary. Public official sources do not, however, establish the opening date or a detailed apostolic assignment for this particular Yangju branch. It is therefore best understood as a local religious-community residence and apostolic base rather than an ordinary parish or public shrine.
History & origins
The roots of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Mary of Mirinae go back to community life begun in Sangju in 1949. According to material published for the congregation's fortieth anniversary, the community later developed and received a formal decree of establishment from the Church on February 2, 1984.
The Catholic Church Directory in Korea now lists an Uijeongbu branch among the congregation's many local houses, at 1457-17 Hwahap-ro in Yangju. Public official sources do not reveal when this particular branch was opened or how it came to occupy its present location. The congregation's broader history in 1949 and 1984 should therefore be kept distinct from the still-undocumented local history of the Yangju branch.
