About this place
The community of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary at 73 Tongil-ro 1920beon-gil, Munsan-eup, Paju, is listed in the Catholic Church Directory in Korea as the “Uijeongbu Queen of Peace Community.” It is a religious community, not an independent parish or mission station.
The Franciscan Missionaries of Mary are an international institute whose identity is rooted in Franciscan spirituality and missionary service. The Paju community belongs within that wider charism. Because the public directory does not specify every local apostolate carried out at this particular house, its description is best kept to the verified identity of the religious community rather than adding unconfirmed functions.
History & origins
The Franciscan Missionaries of Mary were founded as an international missionary institute on January 6, 1877. The Catholic Church Directory in Korea records the institute's arrival in Korea on June 26, 1958. Since then its communities in Korea have continued a mission shaped by Franciscan spirituality and missionary vocation.
The “Uijeongbu Queen of Peace Community” is currently registered in Munsan-eup, Paju. Public Church sources consulted here do not give a verifiable founding date for this particular Paju community or a date for its move to the present address. The history is therefore limited to the verified history of the institute and the confirmed existence of the current local community.
