Jinjeop Catholic Church is a parish of District 2 of the Diocese of Uijeongbu at 58 Janghyeoncheon-ro in Jinjeop-eup, Namyangju. It was established on March 3, 1995, and has the Sacred Heart of Jesus as its patronal title. The parish serves local Catholics through Mass, the sacraments, catechesis, and community life.
As northern Namyangju developed, Jinjeop also served as a mother parish from which newer communities, including Onam and Gwangneung, later separated. Devotion to the Sacred Heart remains a central element of its parish identity.
History & origins
Jinjeop Parish was established on March 3, 1995. The new community proceeded with construction of a permanent church, completing the present building in 1997, and grew along with the population of the Jinjeop area.
Onam Parish separated in 2002 and Gwangneung Parish in 2009. After years of use, settlement and water leakage in the church building also led to renovation work in the early 2010s. Jinjeop's history thus reflects both the establishment of a permanent parish center and the later growth of surrounding Catholic communities.
