The Uijeongbu branch of the Blessed Sacrament Sisters of Charity is a women's religious community at 64 Donggwang-ro in Dongducheon. History & origins
The Blessed Sacrament Sisters of Charity emerged in Korea from postwar relief and social-welfare work. During the Korean War, Fr. Laurence Yoon Eul-soo worked among war orphans and people in need, and this experience helped shape his vision of a religious community dedicated to practical Gospel charity. The congregation's formal foundation date is November 19, 1956.
Its sisters later expanded their service into parishes, social welfare, military ministry, and family apostolates. An Uijeongbu branch is now registered in Dongducheon, but its local opening date has not been verified. The year 1956 therefore refers to the foundation of the congregation as a whole.
