Hwajeong-dong Catholic Church is the district-head parish of District 5 of the Diocese of Uijeongbu, located at 10 Hwasin-ro 260beon-gil in Deogyang-gu, Goyang. It was established on November 21, 1996, after separating from Neunggok Parish, and is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary.
It serves Catholics in the Hwajeong area while also functioning as a coordinating pastoral center for the parishes of District 5. Devotion to Our Lady of the Rosary is an important element of its spiritual identity.
History & origins
Preparations for Hwajeong-dong Parish took shape in 1995 when Neunggok Parish began planning a new parish for the Hwajeong area. The mother parish and local Catholics then organized fundraising and community preparations, and on November 21, 1996, the Hwajeong territory was separated from Neunggok and established as a new parish.
