About this place
Hopyeong-dong Catholic Church is a parish of the Diocese of Uijeongbu at 27 Neureul 1-ro 73beon-gil in Namyangju. It was formed in December 2000 after separating from Pyeongnae Parish and is dedicated to Our Lady of Victory.
The parish serves Catholics in Hopyeong-dong and nearby residential areas through Mass, the sacraments, catechesis, and community life. Created during the urban growth of Namyangju, it places devotion to Our Lady of Victory at the center of its parish identity.
History & origins
Hopyeong-dong Parish began in December 2000 after separation from Pyeongnae Parish. Official sources differ on the exact date: the parish chronology records the division on December 8, while the Catholic Church Directory gives December 28 as the establishment date.
As the community grew, a new church project was launched, with a construction Mass in 2008 and groundbreaking in October 2009. The building was completed at the end of June 2011, and Bishop Peter Lee Ki-heon dedicated the new church on July 3.
