Hanmaum Youth Training Center is a youth formation, retreat, and Catholic education facility of the Diocese of Uijeongbu at 147-142 Beodeul-ro in Yangju. It hosts youth camps and school or group programs as well as altar-server training, retreats for seminarians and lay Catholics, and various Church education and formation events.

It is more than a lodging-based youth facility: it serves as a major diocesan center where young people grow through community and experiential programs and where Church members deepen their faith through retreats and formation. It is not an ordinary parish or monastery.

History & origins

Hanmaum Youth Training Center opened in 1984 as the “Uijeongbu Training Ground” of the Archdiocese of Seoul. It began as a place for priestly pastoral training, altar-server formation, school group programs, seminarian retreats, and various Church camps.

It later became one of the leading youth training facilities in northern Gyeonggi. In 2009 it was rated a top youth facility in a national government evaluation, gaining recognition beyond the Church. After the Diocese of Uijeongbu was created in 2004, the center continued as an important base for diocesan youth ministry and formation, marking its fortieth anniversary in 2024.
