About this place
This location is the Uijeongbu branch of the Daejeon Province of the Sisters of the Blessed Korean Martyrs, at 419 Ilsan-ro in Goyang. Jeongbalsan Parish at the same address lists the Sisters of the Blessed Korean Martyrs as its religious community, so the house functions within the parish pastoral environment.
The congregation follows the faith of the Korean Martyrs and the spirituality of myeonhyeong-mua, self-emptying union with Christ. This place should be understood as the sisters' local religious house serving alongside Jeongbalsan Parish, not as the parish church itself.
History & origins
The Sisters of the Blessed Korean Martyrs were founded by Fr. Andrew Bang Yu-ryong in Kaesong on April 21, 1946, as an indigenous Korean women's religious congregation. The sisters took the Korean Martyrs as patrons and developed a religious life dedicated to carrying their faith and spirit of martyrdom into evangelization.
An Uijeongbu branch of the Daejeon Province is now registered at 419 Ilsan-ro, and Jeongbalsan Parish at the same address also lists the congregation as its religious community. The exact opening date of this local branch is not publicly documented, so the 1946 foundation date of the congregation is not used as the branch's local foundation date.
