History & origins
Goeup-dong Parish was established on August 27, 2009, and Fr. Matthias Noh Yeon-ho arrived as its first pastor on September 8. The community celebrated its first Mass at Majeon-dong Mission Station on September 15, and on October 11 chose the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph as its patron.
The first Mass in the newly built Goeup-dong church of that period was celebrated on December 24, followed by official approval for use of the building on December 30. On January 10, 2010, the parish held an entrance Mass and its first infant baptism, marking the formation of the new parish's early community and church base.
