History & origins

The official chronology of Geumchon 2-dong begins with the arrival of its first pastor on May 25, 2005. The current Catholic Church Directory gives the parish establishment date as the following day, May 26. On June 1 the parish site was confirmed and construction began.

Church construction developed alongside the new community. A topping-out Mass was celebrated on June 3, 2006, followed by the community's first Mass and gathering on July 23 and an entrance Mass on September 17. Parish life then continued while plans for a new church advanced, culminating in the dedication of the present new church on February 26, 2017.

This chronology shows a parish that began building both its community and its worship space immediately after its establishment in 2005 and reached another major milestone with the 2017 dedication.
