About this place
Galmae-dong Catholic Church is a parish of the Diocese of Uijeongbu in District 2, serving the Galmae-dong area of Guri. The parish takes the Holy Trinity as its patron and states that it seeks to become a community united in faith and love after the communion of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The present church is the parish center where local Catholics gather for Mass and the sacraments. The parish also emphasizes communion through neighborhood-based small communities as an important part of its common life.
History & origins
Galmae-dong Parish was newly established by the Diocese of Uijeongbu on August 24, 2018. Fr. Joseph Lee Yeong-jae arrived as its first pastor in September, and the parish celebrated its first Mass on October 7 of that year.
Construction of a permanent church moved into full operation with a groundbreaking Mass on May 25, 2019. The building received approval for use on April 10, 2020, and the first Mass in the new church was celebrated on April 23. On May 29, 2021, the dedication Mass of Galmae-dong Holy Trinity Church marked a major completion point in the church-building process of the new parish.
