Congregation of the Sisters of Mary, Immaculate Conception

About this place

This place is the Suwon community of the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception. The Catholic Directory of Korea lists it as a women’s institute of consecrated life within the Diocese of Suwon. It is therefore best understood not as a parish church, but as a religious community where sisters live communal and prayerful life and carry out the apostolate of their congregation.

The Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception were founded by St. María Carmen Sallés and have placed devotion to the Immaculate Mary and mission through education at the heart of their vocation. The congregation has especially developed the integral formation of children and young people and preventive education as important aspects of its charism, and it has continued educational and missionary apostolates in Korea.

The significance of the Suwon community lies not in having a parish territory of its own, but in living the spirituality and educational missionary vocation of an international religious congregation within the Diocese of Suwon. Visitors should therefore understand it not as an ordinary parish church for a territorial congregation, but as a community space for religious life, prayer, and an educational missionary apostolate.
