Holy Spirit Descension Sisters

About this place

The community of the Sisters Apostles of the Descent of the Holy Spirit in Danwol-myeon, Yangpyeong, is listed in the Catholic Church directory as the congregation’s headquarters within the Diocese of Suwon. The directory gives the official English name as “Sisters Apostles of the descent of the Holy Spirit.” The site is therefore best understood as one of the congregation’s central places of governance and community life. The congregation’s very name points to Pentecost and the sending of the apostles as the heart of its spirituality.

The sisters seek to renew the life of the early Christian community under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and to witness to the Gospel through praise, thanksgiving, service, and sharing. Public presentations of the congregation particularly emphasize living among and caring for people on the margins. Unlike an ordinary parish church, this headquarters is therefore a place that supports the sisters’ prayer, common life, and apostolic works.
