Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres

About this place

The Suwon community of the Daughters of St. Paul is a local religious community of the congregation living within the Diocese of Suwon. The congregation centers its spirituality on living and proclaiming Jesus Christ, the Master who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and dedicates itself to evangelization in the missionary spirit of St. Paul and after the example of Mary, Queen of Apostles. The official Catholic directory in Korea lists the present community in Imok-dong, Jangan-gu, Suwon, as the “Suwon community.”

The distinctive mission of the Daughters of St. Paul is to use the means of social communication for the proclamation of the Gospel. They communicate the faith through publishing, bookstores, missionary and educational work, Bible study, and contemporary digital and social media. The Suwon community is a local base where the congregation’s prayer, common life, and apostolate continue within the Diocese of Suwon. Unlike a parish that has pastoral responsibility for Catholics in a defined territory, this place is a religious house for the sisters’ common life and apostolic work, and should be understood differently from an ordinary parish church.
