About this place
Love and Peace House is a Catholic retreat and education center in Geumsa-myeon, Yeoju, belonging to the Diocese of Suwon. The diocesan institutional directory lists both “Love and Peace House” and the “Love and Peace Life Practice Association” with the same contact system, showing the close connection between the retreat facility and the spiritual movement that uses it as a center of activity.
The house has been presented not as a large pilgrimage complex but as a setting suited to small prayer groups, retreats, family gatherings, and programs for inner reflection and personal growth. Records describe programs that bring psychology and theology together, helping participants examine wounds, emotions, and relationships while seeking healing and growth through liturgy and prayer.
Love and Peace House is therefore best understood not as a shrine commemorating relics or a particular historical event, but as a place of spirituality and formation intended to help Catholics reflect on daily relationships, grow inwardly, and practice the love of the Gospel in ordinary life. It is therefore more accurately understood not as a territorial parish but as a specialized spiritual-support facility within the Diocese of Suwon, used by individuals, families, and small communities for retreats and formation.
History & origins
The background of Love and Peace House is closely connected with the activities of the Love and Peace Life Practice Association. According to a report in the Catholic Times of Korea, the association was founded in 2007 to promote a “true love movement,” using publications and formation activities to encourage Christians to practice love and peace in daily life.
By 2016, Love and Peace House was already operating as a principal venue for the association. Programs held there included a one-day retreat for rediscovering life, spirituality retreats centered on true love, retreats for married couples, Gospel-based human formation, health practices, and meditation. A monthly Mass was also celebrated on the last Sunday of each month. The available sources do not establish the exact opening year of the facility itself, but they show that by this period the house had become a stable retreat base for the movement.
The Diocese of Suwon currently lists Love and Peace House as a retreat and education center and separately lists the Love and Peace Life Practice Association. Together, these records show how the movement begun in 2007 developed a concrete setting for retreats and formation and continued its work there. Because public sources do not identify the original construction or opening date of the house, its earlier chronology should not be stated more precisely.
