About this place
The Ansan Community of the Society of the Divine Word is a local religious community of the Society of the Divine Word (S.V.D.) serving within the Diocese of Suwon. The official Catholic Directory of Korea identifies this house specifically as the “Ansan Community” and lists the same location together with the congregation’s website. It is therefore best understood not as an independent parish church, but as a religious community where members live in common, pray, and carry out their missionary vocation.
The Society of the Divine Word is an international missionary religious congregation founded by St. Arnold Janssen, with a longstanding emphasis on proclaiming the Gospel across cultural and linguistic boundaries. The significance of the Ansan Community is understood within that wider charism. It is a local base where prayer, fraternal religious life, and missionary service continue within the local Church, and its character as a community of consecrated life distinguishes it from an ordinary territorial parish.
