About this place
This site is the Saint Paul Chong Hasang Monastery in Yangpyeong of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual. The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Korea identifies the community as the Order of Friars Minor Conventual, O.F.M. Conv., a male religious community within the Diocese of Suwon. Rather than being a territorial parish church, it is a monastery where friars live a common life of prayer, and its dedication to Saint Paul Chong Hasang forms an important part of its local identity.
The nationwide Catholic retreat guide also lists the monastery as a retreat location in the Suwon area. It therefore functions both as a home for Franciscan religious life and as a point of encounter where other Catholics can experience the spirituality of the order through prayer and retreat. The directory’s reference to spiritual assistance for the Secular Franciscan Order also shows that the community’s mission extends beyond the monastery itself to supporting the wider Franciscan family in its life of faith.
