Ichiri Mission

About this place

Ichiri Mission Station belongs to the Yeoju-Icheon District of the Second Vicariate of the Diocese of Suwon and is under the pastoral care of Icheon Parish. The Diocese of Suwon's official mission-station list identifies Ichiri as a local Catholic community at its present location in Majang-myeon, Icheon. Its basic character is that of a mission station: a place apart from the main parish church where local Catholics can gather for prayer and continue their life of faith. The designation also means that this is not a place possessing every function of an independent parish. Sacramental, administrative, and pastoral matters remain connected with the parent parish, so the most important key for visitors is to understand Ichiri as a local Catholic community belonging to Icheon Parish.

In Catholic usage, a mission station is not an independent parish but a smaller community that remains connected to its parent parish. Ichiri should therefore be understood not as a separate parish, but as a local point within the pastoral care of Icheon Parish that supports communal prayer and liturgical life. The publicly available official sources do not provide enough information to state the frequency of regular Masses or other detailed operating arrangements. For changing information such as Mass times or whether the chapel is open, it is therefore safer to consult the latest notice from the parent parish rather than treating such details as permanent features of the mission station.
