About this place
This place in Baegam-myeon, Cheoin-gu, Yongin, is identified in the Catholic Directory of Korea as the Baegam Yusosa Cecilia Monastery of the Suwon Province of the Sisters of the Blessed Korean Martyrs. It has an official sub-name distinguishing it from other houses of the same congregation and is a monastery within the territory of the Diocese of Suwon where the sisters continue their common life and prayer. Rather than serving as a parish church with territorial jurisdiction, it should be understood primarily in terms of consecrated life and the mission of the congregation.
The Sisters of the Blessed Korean Martyrs were founded to live the Gospel in the spirit of the Korean martyrs and continue that spirituality and apostolate through the Suwon Province and other communities. Baegam Yusosa Cecilia Monastery is likewise a house within this provincial structure where communal prayer and consecrated life are sustained. Its significance lies less in the functions of a tourist site or ordinary parish church than in the daily vocation of a religious community rooted in the spirituality of the martyrs.
