About this place
Kicheon-ri Benedictine Education Center is a retreat and prayer house in the Diocese of Suwon, operated by the Seoul Priory of the Missionary Benedictine Sisters of Tutzing. The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Korea also lists it among the retreat and prayer facilities run by the community. Rather than functioning as a parish with territorial responsibility for a local congregation, it is a place of spiritual respite where visitors can step away from ordinary routines and devote time to prayer and formation.
The character of the center is closely connected with the Benedictine tradition. The Seoul Priory describes Benedictine life as seeking God through the Liturgy of the Hours, lectio divina, and work, with all things directed to the glory of God. The significance of the center therefore lies not simply in particular programs, but in providing a setting where silence, prayer, meditation on Scripture, and shared formation can help visitors recover a balanced rhythm of faith.
