Dojeon Mission

About this place

Dojeon Mission Station is a Catholic mission community of the Diocese of Suwon, and both diocesan records and the Korean Catholic Directory identify it as being under Bukyeoju Parish. A mission station is not an independent parish; it is a smaller community in which local Catholics continue their faith life under the pastoral care of a mother parish. It should therefore not be understood as having the same administrative status or resident-priest structure as a parish.

The current Catholic directory links Dojeon’s representative address and contact information to Bukyeoju Catholic Church. This shows that pastoral and administrative guidance for the mission community is handled through the mother parish. For that reason, Masses, gatherings, and visiting arrangements should not be assumed from a fixed parish schedule but should be confirmed through Bukyeoju Parish.

The importance of Dojeon Mission Station lies less in its size than in the way local Catholics maintain a community while remaining connected to their mother parish. It can be understood as a present-day continuation of the Korean Catholic tradition of mission stations serving believers across broad pastoral territories.
