About this place
The Suwon Community of the Sisters of Divine Providence is listed in the Korean Catholic Directory as a women’s institute of consecrated life within the Diocese of Suwon and is located at 39 Imok-ro, the same site as Jeongja-dong Cathedral and the diocesan offices. The congregation’s official English name is Sisters of Divine Providence. As an international religious congregation, it seeks to reveal the love of Providence through prayer, consecrated life, and apostolic service, with trust in and openness to God’s providence at the center of its charism.
The St. Joseph Province in Korea states that its apostolates include education, parish and overseas mission work, social welfare, healthcare, and work for justice, peace, and the integrity of creation. These, however, describe the province’s apostolic fields as a whole; the official sources currently available do not establish which of them is specifically entrusted to the Suwon Community. The place is therefore best understood as a local religious community in which the spirituality and common life of the Sisters of Divine Providence continue within the Diocese of Suwon.
