Sisters of the Good Shepherd

About this place

The Suwon Community of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd is listed in the Korean Catholic Directory as a women’s institute of consecrated life within the Diocese of Suwon, with “Suwon Community” as its official appended designation. The directory places it in an apartment residence in Hyeonbang-ri, Baeksa-myeon, Icheon. The Sisters of the Good Shepherd are an international congregation following the spiritual heritage of St. Mary Euphrasia, and their central charism is to embrace human woundedness and frailty in the image of the compassionate Jesus the Good Shepherd and to live the Church’s mission of reconciliation.

In understanding this community, it is important to distinguish the charism of the congregation as a whole from the role of an individual local community. The Suwon Community likewise continues prayer, common life, and consecrated life within the same constitutions and spirituality, but the official sources currently available do not establish which particular apostolate is carried out at this address. The place should therefore be understood accurately as a local religious community of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd rather than being identified without evidence as a specific welfare facility or institution.
