Ansang Catholic Center

About this place

Ansan Catholic Center is a retreat and education center operated by the Diocese of Suwon and located within Bono-dong Parish in Ansan. The diocesan directory of institutions classifies it as a retreat and education center, and the Catholic Directory in Korea also lists it as a diocesan facility. It should therefore be understood not as an independent parish church but as an institutional site used by the diocese for education and pastoral work in the Ansan area.

One documented role is its connection with pastoral work for life and counseling. Diocesan notices place the Ansan Life Center on the first floor and describe counseling, home visits, parent counseling, and legal counseling among its services. The center also supports various diocesan and local programs. For visitors, its significance is best understood as a regional base linking education, retreat activity, and the diocese’s pastoral care for life rather than as a parish defined primarily by a Mass schedule. Because it is physically located inside Bono-dong Parish, it can easily be mistaken for an ordinary parish facility; however, diocesan records treat it as a separate institution. Its programs and purpose should therefore be distinguished from the regular pastoral work of Bono-dong Parish.
