History & origins

Noryangjin-dong Parish was formed through separation from Myeongsudae Parish in the early 1970s. The current Catholic Church Directory lists December 15, 1972, as the establishment date, while older Catholic historical sources variously record January 1972 or, in a related mother-parish chronology, December 15, 1971. These records appear to reflect differing administrative stages and are not forced into a single date.

The community secured buildings for worship and pastoral use in the area in the autumn of 1971 and later proceeded with a permanent church. Construction began in 1975, and the church was dedicated on October 29, 1977. The broad sequence is clear even though the exact establishment date differs among sources.
