History & origins

Nokbeon-dong Parish was established on September 24, 1996, from portions of Bulgwang-dong and Eungam-dong parishes. Construction of a temporary church began that November, and the community celebrated its blessing and first Mass in December.

A site for a permanent church was secured in Nokbeon-dong in 1998, and major construction began in September 2000. After several years of work and preparation, the new church was dedicated in May 2004. Parish establishment, temporary worship space, land acquisition, groundbreaking, and dedication were distinct stages.
