About this place

Munrae-dong Catholic Church is a parish of District 15, Yeongdeungpo-Geumcheon, in the Archdiocese of Seoul, located at 52 Mullae-ro 20-gil in Yeongdeungpo-gu. It was established on October 5, 2001, and honors the Korean martyr St. Paul Chong Ha-sang as its patron.

Created as an independent parish after separation from Dorim-dong Parish, it serves Catholics in the Munrae-dong area through Mass, the sacraments, catechesis, and parish community life.

History & origins

Munrae-dong Parish was established on October 5, 2001, after being separated from Dorim-dong Parish. The archdiocesan notice establishing the parish assigned the new community territory centered on Munrae 1-dong and Munrae 2-dong, allowing local Catholics to form a parish of their own.

The current Catholic Church Directory in Korea records the same date as the parish's establishment. Because the available official sources do not provide a sufficiently documented chronology of the early church building, the history here is limited to the verified separation and parish foundation.
