Mok 4-dong Catholic Church is a parish of District 18, Yangcheon, in the western region of the Archdiocese of Seoul. It was established on August 21, 2008, and is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception of Mary.
It is a relatively recent parish formed through pastoral reorganization as the Catholic population of Mokdong grew. It serves local Catholics through Mass, the sacraments, catechesis, and community life. The history of neighboring Mok 5-dong also records the creation of Mok 4-dong and the transfer of parish records, linking its formation to the growth of Mokdong New Town.
History & origins
Mok 4-dong Parish was established on August 21, 2008, as the Catholic community in Mokdong continued to grow. The official history of Mok 5-dong records the creation of Mok 4-dong on that date and the transfer of parish records for the relevant local Catholics on September 14.
This development belongs to the later phase of parish formation that followed the rapid growth of Mokdong New Town from the 1980s onward. Mok 4-dong thus became an independent parish intended to provide more immediate pastoral care to its local community.
