미리내 성 요셉 애덕 수녀회
Religious house
About this place
This location is the Seoul branch of the Mirinae Sisters of St. Joseph of Charity, at 11-20 Eungam-ro 21-gil in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul. The Catholic Church Directory in Korea confirms the Seoul branch at this address and lists its current local superior.
The congregation seeks to imitate St. Joseph, protector of the Holy Family, through works of charity for people in need, including ministry to children and older adults. Its essential identity here is that of a religious-community branch rather than a territorial parish.
History & origins
The Mirinae Sisters of St. Joseph of Charity trace their community history to August 15, 1987, when Fr. Jeong Haeng-man began the community with six women. The congregation later secured a convent site at Galjeon-ri in 1996, and its first perpetual professions followed in 1998.
As the community developed its canonical structure, it was formally approved as a diocesan religious institute on March 19, 2016. The public Catholic directory, however, does not state when the Eungam-dong Seoul branch itself opened, so the congregation's 1987 beginning should not be treated as the foundation date of this particular branch.
