The Little Company of Mary was founded by Mary Potter in England on July 2, 1877, and the Catholic Church Directory in Korea records November 23, 1963, as the congregation's arrival in Korea. After establishing itself in Korea, the congregation developed ministries in health care and hospice service.
Bibliographic information for a history published by the congregation records that the Mohyun home hospice began in Huam-dong in 1987 and began using the name “Mohyun” the following year. The current Catholic Church Directory also lists the Huam-dong branch at this location, confirming the close connection between the site and the history of the congregation's hospice ministry in Korea.
