History & origins

The Daughters of Mary Immaculate were founded in Agen, France, on May 25, 1816, and the Catholic Church Directory in Korea records May 17, 1979, as the date of the congregation's arrival in Korea. As communities later developed in Korea, the current directory lists the Sincheon-dong branch in Songpa-gu as a distinct community.

No official public chronology establishing the exact opening date of the Sincheon-dong branch was found in this research. The congregation's Korean arrival date is therefore not treated as the branch's foundation date; only the verified congregational history and the present existence of the branch are recorded.
