About this place
The Seoul Monastery of the Blessed Sacrament Sisters of Charity is the congregation’s Seoul community in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk-gu. The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Korea directory lists the site as the “Seoul Monastery” and shows that the Family Catechesis Research Institute, Seongche Kindergarten, and vocation ministry operate at the same address.
The community therefore serves not only as a house of religious life but also as a center linking family faith formation, early-childhood education, and vocation accompaniment. In particular, the Family Catechesis Research Institute continues an apostolate that helps parents and children grow in faith together.
History & origins
The Blessed Sacrament Sisters of Charity were founded on November 19, 1956. In 1960, approval of the constitutions and the declaration of the congregation as a diocesan institute by the Archbishop of Seoul provided its institutional foundation, after which the sisters developed apostolates directed toward the evangelization of families and society.
The congregation’s official chronology records that the present Seoul Monastery in Suyu-dong and Seongche Kindergarten were blessed together on November 14, 2019. This provides a clear milestone for the present Seoul site, which has since functioned as a regional base combining family catechesis, early-childhood education, and vocation ministry.
