History & origins

The lineage of today's Guro 2-dong Parish began in December 1969 when a new community was separated from the older Guro-dong Parish. The parish was initially called Guro 1-dong, later became Gurobon-dong as administrative and parish structures changed, and eventually continued as today's Guro 2-dong Parish.

Official sources differ on the exact establishment date. The Catholic Church Directory lists December 2, 1969, while the Catholic Encyclopedia's Gurobon-dong lineage gives December 8. In 1993 the present Guro 1-dong Parish was newly separated from this community, making it especially important to distinguish the older names from today's parish identities.
