About this place
The Columban Mission Center, at 93-14 Dongsomun-ro in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, is a mission and education facility of the Korean Region of the Missionary Society of St. Columban. The Catholic Church Directory classifies it as an education hall within the retreat/prayer-house category and identifies the Missionary Society of St. Columban as the responsible institute.
The Korean regional headquarters is located at the same address, where vocation gatherings, mission formation, and support for international missionary work continue. It is not a territorial parish but a Korean base for overseas mission, education, prayer, and missionary support.
History & origins
The Missionary Society of St. Columban was founded on June 29, 1918, and entered Korea on October 29, 1933. Columban missionaries subsequently served in parish ministry and evangelization across several regions, playing an important role during the growth of the Korean Church.
Today the Korean regional headquarters and the Columban Mission Center share the Dongsomun-dong address. The center continues that missionary tradition through vocation discernment, mission formation, prayer, and supporter activities. Public official sources do not state the exact opening date of the center itself, so neither 1918 nor 1933 is presented as the center's local foundation date.
