거룩한 열정의 딸 수도회
Religious house
About this place
The Seoul branch of the Daughters of Divine Zeal is a women's religious community at 51-8 Gangseo-ro 26-gil in Gangseo-gu, Seoul. Following the spirituality of St. Hannibal Mary Di Francia, the congregation prays for vocations in the Church and serves people who are poor or in need.
In the Hwagok area the sisters also developed Madre Nazarena House, a group-home apostolate for children affected by family breakdown or neglect. This location is a religious house combining consecrated life, vocation ministry, and care for vulnerable children, not a territorial parish.
History & origins
The Daughters of Divine Zeal were founded by St. Hannibal Mary Di Francia in Messina, Italy. The Catholic Church Directory records March 19, 1887, as the congregation's foundation date and November 17, 1986, as its arrival in Korea. Its spirituality joins prayer for vocations with service to people in poverty.
In Korea the congregation expanded into educational, parish, and social apostolates. A child-protection encounter in 2002 led to the development of Madre Nazarena House in the Hwagok area. A Seoul branch is currently registered in Hwagok-dong, but its exact local opening date is not stated in the public official sources, so neither 1887 nor 1986 is treated as the branch's foundation date.
