About this place
This place is the community of Sisters of the Congregation of the Sacred Word assigned to Holy Cross Parish in Mok 3-dong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul. The address is the same as that of Mok 3-dong Catholic Church, and both the Catholic Church Directory and the parish's official website confirm the presence of the sisters in parish ministry.
The sisters assist the parish through liturgy, catechesis, pastoral care, and evangelization. This is therefore best understood as a religious community attached to the parish apostolate, rather than an independent congregation headquarters or a separate church.
History & origins
The Congregation of the Sacred Word was founded on May 17, 1964, moved to the Diocese of Daejeon in 1967, and adopted its present Korean name in 1983. The sisters have since carried out various apostolates centered on the Gospel in parishes and social ministry.
The official Mok 3-dong Parish website records current and former Sacred Word sisters serving the parish, while the congregation's official materials list Mok 3-dong among its Seoul parish apostolates. The exact first date of the local assignment cannot be established from the public sources reviewed, so it is kept distinct from the congregation's overall foundation date.
