History & origins

In October 1977 a committee was organized to establish a church in Doksan-dong, and a mission station under Siheung-dong Parish began that same month. The current Catholic Church Directory and the Korean Catholic Encyclopedia record August 18, 1978, as the parish establishment date, while the parish's own chronicle records September 6 as the date of the diocesan decree establishing the parish and the arrival of its first pastor.

The parish celebrated a groundbreaking Mass for its church in November 1978. The first Mass in the new building was held in July 1980, followed by the church's dedication on September 21. As the Catholic population increased, the complex was later expanded, with a major enlargement completed in May 1990.
