Daerim 3-dong Catholic Church is a parish of District 15 (Yeongdeungpo-Geumcheon) of the Archdiocese of Seoul, located in Daerim-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu. It was established on August 5, 2010, and has the Holy Family as its patron.
It is a relatively young parish created as the Catholic community in the Daerim area grew beyond the older Daerim-dong Parish. With the Holy Family as its patronal focus, it serves local Catholics through Mass, the sacraments, catechesis, and parish community life.
History & origins
The origin of Daerim 3-dong Parish is directly connected with the growth of the older Daerim-dong community. The official history of Daerim-dong Parish records the “establishment of Daerim 3-dong Church” on August 5, 2010, and the current Catholic Church Directory gives the same date as the establishment of the parish.
Its central historical pattern is therefore not that of an old mission station gradually elevated to parish status, but of a new independent parish created in 2010 as the pastoral territory and community of Daerim-dong expanded. It subsequently became the parish responsible for the liturgical and pastoral life of Catholics in the Daerim 3-dong area.
